Overview
Tae Kwon Do
helps students develop positive
values such as respect, focus,
self-discipline and
self-control. It also builds
self-esteem and confidence,
increases strength and
flexibility and promotes an
overall healthy lifestyle. The
values and life skills that Tae
Kwon Do teaches can be applied
to all areas of life including
home, school, work and play.
Striping and Testing
Progression
through each belt level is based
on a striping system. The
curriculum for every level is
broken down into five sections:
forms; basic hand techniques and
stances; kicks; kicking
combinations; and sparring
techniques. Students receive a
stripe on their belts when they
are able to properly execute all
techniques of a particular
section. A white stripe
signifies memorization of the
technique as a black stripe
represents the student mastering
the technique. Students become
eligible to test for the next
belt level when they have
received all five black stripes.
