Why Twisters?
Forty years of gymnastics education built on one idea: a real foundation beats a level system every time.
Not every gym teaches gymnastics the same way
Most gymnastics programs are organized around levels — a ladder of skills that moves children upward as fast as possible. Twisters was built on a different premise: that the body has a natural order of development, and that rushing past it produces gymnasts who are fragile, not strong.
Our curriculum is built on six fundamental body movement patterns and the handstand — organized across six Twisters Kids bands following biomechanical principles developed by founder Allan Fusilero over four decades of coaching. Every skill connects to the one before it. Every band prepares the body for the next.
The result is a gymnast who doesn't just know how to do a back handspring. She knows why her body works the way it does.
What makes Twisters different
40+ Years in South Bay
Founded in July 1986, Twisters has served Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, San Jose, Mountain View, and Campbell for over four decades. We are not a franchise. We are not a chain. We are a family-owned school with deep roots in this community.
Biomechanical Curriculum
Our numbered sequence is organized across six Twisters Kids bands: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8. Skills are taught in the order the body is ready to learn them — from the center of gravity outward, across three body segments. The foundation: six body movement patterns and the handstand.
Foundation Over Levels
We don't chase levels. We build foundations. A gymnast who owns her hollow body, her arch, and her center will progress faster and stay healthier than one who was pushed through a level system before her body was ready.
Programs for Every Age
From Preschool Gymnastics starting at 18 months, through Recreational classes for all skill levels, to our competitive WAG team — every program is built on the same curriculum, taught year-round.
Small, Family-Owned Gym
At Twisters, your child is not a number. Our coaches know every student by name. Our founder still coaches. The philosophy that started this gym in 1986 is the same one taught in every class today.
Transparent Pricing
